 Newark—Edward A. Dodson, 86, died Sunday (June 19, 2016) at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

 Friends are invited to call from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. on Wednesday (June 22^nd) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St. Newark, NY. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (June 23^rd) at 2 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

 Mr. Dodson was born on February 2, 1930, the son of Edward E. and Gladys Dewar Dodson in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. He graduated high school in 1948 and moved to the United States to attend the Erie Technical Institute in Buffalo. In 1954, Edward moved to Newark where he worked at the Newark Medical Center until 1958.  Ed then opened Dodson Opticians on Main St. in Newark retiring  2012, at the age of 82. He was a member of the Newark Country Club for 48 years.

He is survived by his wife Sandra, four children; Kim(Lee) Boise of Waterloo, Peter (Reenie) of Peachtree City, GA, Keltie Dodson of Peachtree City, GA and Dr. Theresa (Daniel) Gibbs of Queensbury, NY seven grandchildren Timothy(Ana) Boise, Ashleigh(Brian) Holdford, Kevin(Catherine) Boise, Adam Dodson, Alexander Dodson, Alexander Gibbs and Jonathan Gibbs and five great-grandchildren.
