George Peyton

Newark/Rochester—George Peyton, 82, died Monday (December 28, 2015) at Strong Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday (January 4, 2016) at the Creation Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park, Marsh Road, Perinton, New York.

George was born on December 8, 1933 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the son of Fred and Mary Scott Peyton. He graduated from Rochester Business Institute and served with the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the systems department at Garlock, Inc. in Palmyra. Before moving to Rochester to be near this children, George was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Newark where he was a member of the choir. He was a 52 year member of the Excelsior Hook and Ladder Company of the Newark Fire Department. George was also a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion, the Newark Boosters and a Past President of the Newark Community Baseball Association.

He is survived by his daughter Jean (Tori) Peyton and Robert (Rosemarie) Peyton both of Rochester. George was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Gilda “Jill” on January 5, 2015.
