Newark/Seneca Falls--- Kevin G. Schultz, 43, died Saturday (January 7, 2012) at Tompkins County Hospital.
Friends may call from 3-8 P.M. on Wednesday (January 11th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday (January 12th) at the First United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Newark with Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.
Memorials, in his memory, may be American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road N., Rochester, New York 14609.
Kevin was born on March 31, 1968 in Ithaca, the son of Gary and Dian Harrington Schultz. A 1986 graduate of Newark High School, he had played football and basketball and was named 1986 Most Valuable Player in the Section 5 Basketball Tournament. In 1990, he graduated with a degree in Business Management from St. John Fisher’s College. Kevin was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark. He had served on the Board of Directors of the Alex Eligh Community Center, had been a member of the Newark Fire Department, Excelsior Hook and Ladder Company and the Newark Elks. Kevin enjoyed sports, especially golf and softball playing in several leagues. An outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by two daughters Courtrey and Emily Schultz, his mother Dian Schultz, a sister Jennifer (Sean) Beattie all of Newark; two brothers Stephen (Debra) of Walworth and Mark (Brandi) of Seattle, WA; his paternal grandmother Enid Schultz of Sodus; several nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles and cousins. Kevin was predeceased by his father Gary in 2010, his paternal grandfather Denton Schultz and his maternal grandparents Clifford and Olga Harrington.
