Newark—Lester Hixson, 78, died on Friday (February 17, 2017) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Tuesday (February 21^st ) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday (February 22^nd) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Memorials, in his name, may be made to a charity of your choice.

Lester was born on Nov. 14, 1938, the son of the late Calvin and Jennie Hixson. He was a supervisor in the upholstery dept at Hallagan Furniture for many years. Lester was an avid fan of stock car racing. He enjoyed his woodworking shop and hunting.

He is survived by his four sons Gregory (Dawn) of Newark, Jeffrey (Susan) of Phelps, James (Brenda) of Sodus and Darryl (Shelly) of Newark; fifteen grandchildren Scott, Alyssa, Michael, Ashley, Staci, Heather, Brad, Nicole, Shaylynn, Hunter, Isabel, Kaylee, Emily, Lexi and Camden; two great grandchildren Frankie and Miles; brother Joel (Linda) of Lyons; sisters Rachel Murray and Frances Kaufman both of Waterloo; several nieces and nephews.
