Newark—Lynn C. Goodman, 81, died Wednesday (March 2, 2016) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 P.M. on Sunday (March 6th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A funeral will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday (March 7^th) at the First Baptist Church, 133 East Miller Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Memorials, in her name, may be made to the First Baptist Church of Newark.

Mrs. Goodman was born on May 5, 1934, in Newark the daughter of the late Byron and Natalie Young Carr. She was a 1952 graduate of Newark High School and earned her Bachelor Degree in Education from Geneseo State in 1956. Lynn taught kindergarden at Lincoln School for several years. She then took time to raise her children before returning as a substitute teacher in the elementary schools of Newark. Lynn was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was the superintendent and taught Sunday School for many years. She also did many other service projects and social work with the church. Lynn volunteered for the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross and a member of the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Auxiliary where she was in the Twig that took baby pictures.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert T., three children Kathleen (Robert) Zappia of Newark, Marjorie (Kevin) Wall of Canandaigua, Robert B. (Lisa) of Apalachin, NY; eight grandchildren Colleen, Kyle, Kevin Zappia, Stephanie, Natalie Wall; Robert (RJ), Alex and Ryan Goodman.
