.Everyone who knew Nancy Marie Collins knew she was the nicest person around. No one could meet her and not see her goodness right away. She was beautiful inside and out, kind and generous and putting others before herself was who she was. She was everything to everyone.

Nancy was born in Newark in 1947, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Jane McParland Huebeler. She graduated from Newark High School, Class of 1965. Nancy married David F. Collins, enjoyed 46 years and many happy memories together, before David's death in 2011. She has two daughters, Maureen Collins of Newark and Jennifer (Jesse) Strazzabosco of Lyons, who she was extremely proud of and loved profoundly. She was a very hands-on and present grandma to Zachary Block of D.C., Ben Block of Lakewood, Co and JohnDavid Strazzabosco of Lyons. Nancy has one sister Peggy MacMillan of Cape Coral, Fl. and an aunt to many, but two very special nieces, Courtney (Michael) Nugent of Alexandria, VA and Molly MacMillan of Rochester. She found new love later in life with a long time friend, Gary Vanderbrook.

Nancy was a very successful business women and ended her career as manager of Corporate Accounting for NYSEG. She inspired us and modeled a good work ethic. At the same time, she showed us that there's so much more to life than work.

Although she was grace personified, she knew how to have fun like playing Cards Against Humanity with her family, mixing up some good margaritas or facing her fears and flying in a Cessna 172. She enjoyed girls weekends with her close friends that included good wine and lots of laughs. Golf was her thing and she excelled at it, winning many tournaments at the Newark Country Club and at Deltura where she lived in Florida. She loved to travel in the states and abroad but had a tradition of visiting the Adirondacks and the Outer Banks. She was the organizer of the family trips and parties and it made us laugh at how prepared she'd be for them, buying items months ahead of time. She belonged to book clubs and could read a book in a short sitting. Believe it or not, she was an avid Bills fan and enjoyed a good pizza during the games.

She was always thinking of others and putting their needs before hers whether it was sending one of her handwritten cards, visiting and caring for the sick, Martha's Ministry, yearly giving to an anonymous family in need of help, paying for students who didn't have field trip money, helping with various fundraisers and so much more.

One of the last things she said to us before she passed was, “Be nice, be nice, be nice.” I know she wants us to be nice to each other, doing for others and making others feel special.

We will miss her dearly but as she always said, “It will all work out”, and we know she will be a guardian angel to all of us.

She is also survived by her five sister-in-laws, a brother-in-law and many special nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Nancy cared so much about children, so in lieu of flowers, please make a gift to Blessings in a Back Pack. Org, @Tanya Hasseler, 111 Garden Lane, Newark, New York, 14513.
