Rochester-Robert M. Ingram, 91, passed on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Rochester General Hospital.

Friends are in invited to call on Sunday, December 13, 2020 from 11 – 1 PM at Paul L. Murphy and Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St., Newark, NY. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1:45 PM at Newark Cemetery, 701 N. Main St., Newark, NY.

Robert was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 11, 1929 the son of the late Samual and Hester McKenzie Ingram. He served in the Navy. Mr. Ingram worked at the Monroe County VA. He was an activist. He was involved with Empower, ACTUP Western, NY, Community Advisory Board for Infectious Diseases at Strong, Community Constituency Group for Pediatric AIDS, Clinical Trials Group of Allergy and infectious disease, a board member for Levar and Friends Foundation (LAFF), Non-profit for Children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, a member of Rochester Area Task Force on AIDS. He was involved in Civil Rights, healing Rochester after the riots and the inception of what became Rochester Area Housing Council. He was more than willing to be arrested for his causes. He was a resident contributor to the Democrat and Chronicle and the Buffalo News. He was published in numerous publications including “Social Policy” (Fall 1988), Games and Positivity (1980), Journal of Gambling Behavior(1985), and many times in Transactional Analysis Journal. He was proud of his wonderful tenor voice which he used in barbershop quartets and singing in Downtown United Presbyterian Church Choir. He enjoyed acting in a local theater group “Conundrum Players”. His dream was to play Teuya in “Fiddler on the Roof. He loved sailing and skiing. He achieved his goal of skiing on his 80th birthday. He cared for his family under all circumstances and was very proud of them.

Robert is survived his wife Alice of Rochester; a son Alan (Cheryl) Ingram of Newark; a daughter Eileen Monaghan of Rochester; five grandchildren Michelle Ingram, Matthew (Crystal) Ingram, Lucas (Julia) McCann, Maxwell Monaghan and Dillon Tack; six great grandchildren.
