Newark— Amy L. Stell, 72, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Clifton Springs Hospital.

Friends may call from 3-6 PM on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Paul L. Murphy and Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St., Newark, NY.   A private funeral service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the Robert C. Stell Memorial Scholarship Fund; c/o Newark Central School District; 100 E. Miller St., Newark, New York 14513.

Amy was born in Clifton Springs, on November 19, 1951, the daughter of the late Duane and Dorothy Crump Lent.  Amy graduated from Newark High School in 1969 and attended college at SUNY Canton for nursing.  In 1971 she married her high school sweetheart to whom she was married for 52 years.  For most of her career she worked as an RN for Newark Wayne Community Hospital.  As a caregiver, it was in her nature to put others first.  Amy loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren.  She enjoyed sewing and was an avid quilter.

Mrs. Stell is survived by a daughter Kristin (Josh) Springer; two grandchildren Morgan and Robbie Springer; two sisters Carol (Paul) Moore and Joan (Fred) Noteboom; a brother Scott Lent; a brother-in-law Brian (Sherry) Stell; many nieces and nephews; dear friends; and her dog Riley.  She was predeceased by her husband Craig in 2023 and her son Robert “Robbie” Stell in 2003.
