Ann Elizabeth “Betty” Smith

Newark—Betty Smith, 94, died Saturday, (July 2, 2011) at Clifton Springs Hospital.

            Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday (July 5, 2011) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Wednesday (July 6, 2011) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark.  Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

            Memorials, in her name, may be made  to St. Michael’s Church, 401 South Main Street, New York 14513.

            Mrs. Smith was born September 22, 1916 in Newark, the daughter of the late David M. and Mary Dolan Kelly.  She was a member of the graduating Class of 1933 at Newark High School and graduated from Rochester Business Institute. Betty was an executive secretary at Sarah Coventry in Newark, retiring in 1981.She was a life-long communicant of St. Michael Church where she was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society and the Legion of Mary.

            Betty is survived by two daughters Mary Elizabeth Smith of Newark and Susan (Robert C.) Hartman of Palmyra; a son David of Newark; two grandchildren Kerry (Dominic) Vitaro and Charles (Julie) Hartman; two great grandchildren Meghan Vitaro and Halley Hartman.  She was predeceased by her husband Francis “Pat”; sisters Margaret Kelly and Mary Alice Kelly; a brother Edward Kelly.                      .
