Beatrice Richardson

Beatrice L. Richardson, age 81, passed away on Friday October 9, 2026 after a long illness.

Services will be held 11am Saturday October 31, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church in Newark.

Contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity in Beatrice's memory.

Beatrice was born January 1, 1945 in Altmar, NY, the daughter of the late Ernest and Elsie Sahm. She was an EMT with her husband, Curtis for 15 years. Beatrice was a fearless woman with an open mind that liked to try absolutely everything. She traveled to many different countries to try new things such as a 1100-foot about sea level zipline in Alaska, trying the luge with her EMT friends in Lake Placid, climbing a volcano in Columbia and bell diving in Bermuda. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity with her husband and once met Rosalynn Carter. She was a member of the first United Methodist Church. Beatrice was an avid Mets and Patriots fan. She also enjoyed gardening, having some of the most beautiful flowers from early spring to late fall.

Beatrice will be sadly missed by her husband, Curtis Richardson; children, Steven (Eileen Williams) Richardson, Michael Richardson, and Donna Richardson; Granddaughter, Michaela Richardson; Sisters, Nancy Sahm, Linda (Gary) Howdeshell, and Bernice (Jim) Sullivan.

Beatrice is predeceased by her parents; sisters, Betty Rose, Dorothy, Eunice, Mary Jane, Barbara, Sharon, and Diane; brothers, Milford, Ernie, George, Carlton, and Arloe.
