Newark–Carol G. Holdridge, 64, died Tuesday (December 28, 2010) at her home.

            Friends may call on Sunday (January 2nd) from 1 to 5 pm at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St. in Newark.  Funeral Services will be private.  Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

          Memorials, in her name, may be made to the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Foundation, Emergency Room, PO Box 571, Newark, New York 14513.

          Mrs. Holdridge was born in Newark on December 31, 1945, the daughter of the late James and Esther Ellis Green.  She graduated from Red Creek High School class of 1963, Potsdam State University in 1967 and earned her master’s degree in teaching from Syracuse University. Carol started her teaching career in North Rose-Wolcott School District.  Then for over 30 years, she taught second grade in Phelps-Clifton Springs School District.  Carol loved teaching.  She was a member of the Auxiliary at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, serving as its the president for seven years.  She belonged to the Newark Country Club where she played in several golf leagues and was a member of the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society.  Carol enjoyed playing the piano as well as playing bunco and mahjong.

           Carol is survived by her husband of 43 years, Richard, two sons Mark of Boulder, CO and Brent of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren Caleb and Carly; two brothers Gary (Shelba) Green of Martville, NY and Robert (Judy) Green of Lacona, NY; her mother-in-law Muriel Holdridge of Phelps; several nieces and nephews.
