Newark— Craig E. Stell, 73, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Clifton Springs Hospital.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the Paul L. Murphy and Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St., Newark, NY. A private funeral service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Robert C. Stell Memorial Scholarship Fund; c/o Newark Central School District; 100 E. Miller St., Newark, New York 14513.

Mr. Stell was born in Newark, NY, the son of the late Glenn and Shirley Morgan Stell. He was a graduate of Newark High School, Class of 1969. After high school, he attended SUNY Canton where he studied heating and air-conditioning. Over the years he worked for Freling Electrical Contractors, Graybill Real Estate and Tri-Bro Supply. He retired after 23 years from Newark Central School District as Director of Facilities and Operations. For nineteen years he was a member of the Newark Fire Department’s Central Hose #5. A longtime member of the Newark Elks Lodge BPOE #1249 he was also a fiftytwo year member of the 1249 hunting club where he had served as president. He coached Vince Lombardi Football and was a member of the Newark Grid Iron Club while his son Robbie played.

Craig is survived by his wife Amy; a daughter Kristin (Josh) Springer; two grandchildren Morgan and Robbie Springer; a brother Brian (Sherry) Stell. Craig will be missed by his many nieces, a nephew, his dog, Riley and many longtime friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his son Robert “Robbie” Stell
