Whitcomb, Edgar J. “Luke”
Pittsford---April 30, 2016, entered heaven peacefully at age 85 and 11 months. Survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Marlys Conwell Whitcomb; children Deborah J. Schlenker, Robert W. Schlenker III, Randall J. Whitcomb, Andrea (Daniel) Whitcomb-May, Amy Schlenker Mangieri, Anita Whitcomb VanNeil; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Edgar and Marion Whitcomb, sisters Shirley (Dick) Hellenschmidt and Mary Margaret (Jim) Bennett.
Luke served in the US Army 1956-58, stationed Nuremberg Germany. University of Rochester BS and member of Phi Beta Kappa. After a sucessful career in manufacturing management, Luke was delighted to become a professor at Monroe Community College teaching mechanical technology and statistical quality control for 15 years, retiring at 71.
Luke designed & built from the ground up a 4 bedroom home overlooking Lake Ontario. Former President Williamson Flying Club, bulider of radio controlled airplanes, Deacon at First Baptist Church Macedon, avid round/square dancer. Memorial service followed by round/square dancing to be held on his birthday May 20th (Friday) at United Church of Pittsford at 7 P.M. Donations in Luke's memory First Baptist Church Macedon, NY or the Rochester Area Federation of Round & Square Dance Clubs c/o Mary Lane, 3901 Ridge Chapel, Marion, NY 14505.
