Newark—Elsie DeMeyers, 80, died Tuesday (May 10, 2016) at Highland Hospital in Rocheseter.

Friends may call on Monday (May 16th) from 4 -8 P.M. at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday (May 17th) at the Park Presbyterian Church, Maple Court, Newark. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

Memorials, in her name, may be made to Rochester Presbyterian Home, 256 Thurston Road, Rochester, New York 14619.

Mrs. DeMeyers was born in Newark on July 23, 1935, the daughter of the late Harry and Hazel Shaffner Thomas. She graduated from Newark High School in 1953. Elsie was a long time payroll manager for LeChase Construction in Rochester. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church where she had served as both a Deacon and an Elder. Elsie also had worked in the church office as secretary from 1999 to 2009 and treasurer from 2003 to 2005.

She is survived by her children, Marcia (Salvatore) Famolaro of Holley, Barbara (Joseph) Schmidt of Mars, PA and Thomas (Daphne) DeMeyers of Victor; four grandchildren Colin and Jillian Schmidt; Hayden (Chelsea) and Jackson DeMeyers. Elsie was predeceased by her husband B. Roger DeMeyers on May 1, 2014 and a sister Joyce George.
