Newark ---Elsie G. Durant, 88, died Monday (March 18, 2013) at the DeMay Living Center.

            All services will be private.  Memorials, in her name, may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14889.

            Mrs. Durant was born on January 28, 1924 in Williamson, the daughter of the late Edgar and Amelia Mae Jackson Cook, Sr.  She was a 1942 graduate of Williamson High School.  Elsie moved to Newark in 1988 from her home in Brushton, New York after the death of her husband William.  She was also predeceased by six sisters and seven brothers.

            Elsie is survived by three daughters Sandra (Lavern) Hermenet of Newark, Donna (Milan) Smith of Naples, New York and Rhonda Breemes of Newark; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her companion B.J.
