Newark--Fadie Mae Smith, 90, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Newark Wayne Community Hospital.

Friends may call from 10-11AM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street in Newark. A funeral service will start at 11 AM following calling hours.  Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.  

Fadie was born in Apalachicola, Florida, the daughter of the late Jesse and Martha Harvey Collins.    She earned an associate's degree from SUNY Cobleskill. For over thirty-five years she was a food dietician at Newark Wayne Community Hospital.  In her spare time, she loved cooking and spending time with family.  

She is survived by five children Clarence(Joann Jones) Smith, Valera Smith, Denise Smith, Belinda (Dwayne) Parker and Ronald (Charlotte) Smith; twelve grandchildren;  many great grandchildren; a brother Scott Collins; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her husband Max Smith in 1984; a son Covington Smith; three grandchildren Andre, Sonja and Maurice.
