Newark/Wolcott—Helen L. Armstrong, 80, died Sunday (November 29, 2015) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M.on Thursday (December 3, 2015) the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Friday (December 4^th) at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Glenside Cemetery in Wolcott.

Memorials, in her name, may be made to American Cancer Society, 1120 South Goodman Street., Rochester, New York 14620 or the American Diabetes Association, 160 Allens Creek Road, Rochester, New York 14618.

Mrs. Armstrong was born on January 15, 1935 in Oswego, New York, the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Pfeiffer Armstrong. She graduated from Oswego High School in 1953. Helen had work for Seneca Food in Marion for over 24 years. She was a communicant of St. Michael Church. Helen loved to bake, tend to her flower gardens, knit and crochet. She also got great pleasure feeding and watching birds.

She is survived by her children Robert (Mary) Torbitt of Deltone, Fla.,Susan Joslyn of Newark, Mark (Sandra) Torbitt of Liverpool, Terry (Tony) Torbitt of Newark, and Wendy (Tim) Wright of TN; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by a son Timothy Torbitt in 1998; siblings Mary Armstrong, Bernadette Bennett, Patricia Torbitt, Donald Armstrong Walter Armstrong.
