Henry W. Gadjo
Newark –Henry Walter Gadjo, 83, passed away peacefully Wednesday (June 10, 2015) at his home with his family.
Family and friends may call on Saturday (June 13th) from 2 to 4 P.M. at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St., Newark. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Geneva.
If desired, memorials may be made to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, NY 14432.
Hank was born in Passaic, New Jersey on December 23, 1931, the son of the late John and Mary Mlnarz Gadjo. He has been a resident of Newark since 1971. Hank earned his B.S. Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his M.S. Degree from Syracuse University. The majority of his life was spent in the educational field as a math and science teacher in Oakland, New Jersey and Penn Yan and a long stint as the Educational Communications Director at Sodus Central School. While at Sodus, he started the first area High School FM radio station.
Hank was a member of the Newark Rotary, Chairman of the Newark Planning Board, Committee Member of Newark Family Fest, President of the Sodus Bay Junior Sailing Association, Vice President of New York State Educational Communications Association, Member and Historian of the Newark County Club.
The greatest accomplishment Hank was most proud of was being the father of his sons John and Robert both retired Marines.
Hank is survived by his wife of 57 years Isabel (Andrews); two sons John and Robert (Scilla Pagnattaro); grandchildren Samuel and Olivia; sister Evelyn (Jack Willis); three nieces Cheryl Willis, Kathy (Patrick) Andrews Barry and Mary Elizabeth Kaplan; four nephews Daryl, Chris, Craig Willis and Robert (Margaret) Morgan. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother John W. and his dog Willie.
