Newark—Israel Fontanez, 66, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Newark Wayne Community Hospital
Friends may call on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St. in Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, June 23rd at St. Michael Church, 401 S. Main St. in Newark.
In leiu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1344 University Ave., Rochester, NY 144607.
Israel is survived by his wife, Wanda Crespo Fontanez; a daughter Gesenia (Phil) Bocka; two sons Daniel (Jenna) and James Fontanez; three grandchildren; many brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his son Israel Fontanez Jr. in 1984 and his parents Angel Fontanez Castillo and Romoana Cuadrado Santiago.
