James C. O’Brien
Fairville—James C. O’Brien, 81, passed away at his home on June 11, 2024.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at East Newark Cemetery.

Jim was born in Rochester on January 2, 1943, the son of the late John and Doris Donie O’Brien. He was a graduate of Ben Franklin High School, Class of 1960. After high School, Jim enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. Then in 1964, he joined the New York State Troopers. He retired in 1985. In his retirement, he worked for the Wayne County Sherriff’s Marine Patrol and acted as a rural carrier for the Lyons and Clyde Post Offices. He was a licensed Fly-Fishing Guide in the Catskills and a professional Fly Tyer for Orvis.
He is survived by his wife Gail; two children David (Mary) O’Brien and Linda (Paul) Montouri; two stepchildren Kellyn Brightman and Chaston (Holly) Brightman; grandchildren Zachary, Alayna, Olivia, McKinley, Gage and Reed; three great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother John O’Brien.
Though he may have cast his final line, his legacy will continue to inspire generations of anglers to come.
