Victor---Joyce D Smith, age 73, Of Victor NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Family and friends may call on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, from 4–7 pm at Paul L. Murphy & Son’s Funeral Home, 175 E. Miller Street, Newark, NY 14513. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the funeral home.

Joyce was born in Newark, NY on August 28, 1952, the daughter of the late Walter and Eleanor McNamara DeCann. She earned an associate’s degree in 1972 from Finger Lakes Community College. After Joyce married her husband Carl in 1975, they moved to Seneca Falls where she worked several years for the Seneca Falls Central School District as a secretary.

Joyce lived a life filled with love, warmth and devotion to her family, friends, and two kitties Tazzie and Jett. Joyce would be most known for being an extremely talented and avid quilter. She spent much of her time at Sew Creative or working diligently in her sewing room. She also enjoyed golfing every summer and spending time with her daughter and friends.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Carl Smith; daughter, Eve (Brandon) Lauricella; brother, Donald (Pauline) DeCann; sister, Virginia (Robert) Bodine. She is predeceased by her parents.

She will be remembered for her kindness; strength and the many ways she touched the lives of those around her. Joyce will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lollypop Farm, Humaine Society of Greater Rochester, a cause that was close to Joyce’s heart.
