Newark–Kathryn Hurley, 96, died Sunday (December 26, 2010) at the DeMay Living Center.         Friends may call on Monday (December 27th) from 4-7 pm at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St. in Newark.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Felix Dalimpuo at 10 AM on Tuesday (December 28th) at St. Michael’s Church, South Main Street, Newark.  Burial will follow in Newark Cemetery.

          Memorials, in her name, may be made to St. Michael’s School, 320 South Main Street, Newark, New York 14513 or the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14489. 

          Mrs. Hurley was born on September 2, 1914, in the Town of Palmyra, the daughter of the late Abram and Ann Lynch Cornelius.  She had worked at Perfection Canning for over 35 years.  Kathryn was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church, a member of its Rosary and Altar Society and Legion of Mary.   She was a long time member of the Newark Grange.  Kathryn loved to sew and sewed many items for the A.R.S.P

          She is survived by two daughters Diann (Thomas) Dunham of State College, PA and Carol (John) McKay of Newark; four grand children Lisa Weiss, John McKay, Jr., Tristan Dunham and Nicholas McKay; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.   

Kathryn was predeceased by her husband Daniel in 1980, brothers James and Donald Cornelius, sisters Marguerite Collier and Marian Bridgeman.
