Linda J. Baker

Sodus---It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda Jean Baker (Woodhams), 77 of Sodus NY. She passed away peacefully under the excellent care provided at Newark Wayne hospital on August 1, 2026.

Linda was born to Owen and Rena Woodhams on August 28, 1948, in Lyons NY. She graduated from Sodus Central High School in 1966.

Linda married John G. Baker on April 30, 1977. They raised their family in Sodus Point NY and instilled the true meaning of loving “the lake life” into their daughters Tracy and Julie. Most summers were spent on their boat the “Jo-Li” until Linda convinced John it was time to trade it in for a camper. They spent many years camping at Lazy Lakes Camping Resort, Linda’s favorite place. And then they took their annual trip to Myrtle Beach which brought Linda so much joy. But what brought Linda the most happiness was watching her family grow. Her favorite thing to do was to brag about the growing number of grand and great grand children (7 grands and 6 great)!

She was very proud of the work she did at Sarah Coventry International and then later as the deputy clerk at the Village of Sodus Point. She spent the last 25 years of her career and retired from the village of Newark offices in 2011.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded by her brother Terry Woodhams and sister Ann Davidson. She was also preceded by her daughter Tracy Ayotte in May 2025.

Linda is survived by her loving and devoted husband John, who took such excellent care of her during the times of life where she needed it the most. She is also survived by daughter Julie Baker and daughter-n-law Jessica Fox.

Linda also leaves behind son-n-law William Ayotte and all of those beautiful bright grand babies Lindsey, Cody, Kaitlin, Alexa, Aiden, Natalie and Jackson. Great grandchildren Jayden, Jianna, Jace, Julianna, Owen and Emiliana. She also leaves several cousins, nieces and a nephew that were all near and dear to her heart. We would be Amis if we didn’t mention the several close family friends that John and Linda held close to their hearts over the past 50 years.

Linda was a woman of boundless energy and intelligence. She touched many lives with her wisdom, humor and an unwavering spirit of perseverance.

Linda’s warmth, kindness as well as her “gift to gab” will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
