Newark – Mary Jo DeMeyers, 72, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 21, 2026. She lived a beautiful life that has now come to an end, and she died as she lived—everyone’s friend. In our hearts, a memory will always be kept of one we loved and will never forget.

Mary Jo was born in Newark on April 1, 1953, the daughter of the late Anthony and Johanna Lagana Perry. She was a graduate of Newark Senior High School, Class of 1972. Mary Jo dedicated over 30 years of her life as a caregiver with FLDDSO, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.

A lifelong fan of The Beatles since 1964, Mary Jo found joy in music and in the simple pleasures of life. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her daughter and granddaughter, who were the center of her world.

She is survived by her loving husband, John DeMeyers; her daughter, Tracy (James) Brown; her granddaughter, Kalie Brown; her sister, Carol (Jerry) Flanagan; and her brother, Michael Perry. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Perry.

A private service will be held for the family.
