Newark ---Michael R. Young, 54, died due to an automobile accident on Thursday (December 6, 2012).

            Friends may call 4 to 7 P.M. on Monday (December 10, 2012) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.  A funeral service will be at 11A.M. on Tuesday (December 11^th) at the funeral home with Rev. Chirstie Wareham and Rev. Mark Sampson Sr. officiating.  Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

            Memorials in his name may be made to the Marbletown Fire Department, 6416 Silver Hill Rd, Newark, NY  14513

            Mr. Young was born March 10, 1958, in Lyons the son of Robert and Jean Cowan Young.  Upon graduating high school, Mike, left Newark and headed west to work in the oil fields.  He returned to the area and worked as a truck driver for Earl T. Wadhams Trucking for about 10 years.  Mike became a school bus driver for the Newark School District.  Mr. Young had a love of motorized vehicles.  He struck out on his own, buying and selling cars and he specialized in converting them to alternative fuels.   He was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, the Geneva Y.M.C.A. and the Electric Car Club of Rochester.

            He is survived by his wife Roxanne Sampson, two sons Robert ( Kirstie Matthews)  of Texas and Bryan of Newark, a daughter Christine Young of Newark, his mother Jean Young of Newark, a brother Richard (Diane) of Lyons and a sister Linda (Terry) Button of Phoenix, NY.  Mike was predeceased by his father on November 10, 2012; three brothers Daniel in 2006, Thomas in 1990, and infant brother John.
