Newark—Michael J. Steve, 74, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

Friends may call from 3-5 PM on Thursday (Apr. 2nd) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home following calling hours at 5 PM.

Mr. Steve was born in Lyons, on April 13, 1951, the son of the late Thomas and Jenny Varalli Steve. He was a graduate of Clyde Savannah High School, Class of 1969. He married Brenda Molisani on Oct. 9, 1971, together they raised two sons. He retired from Newark Central Schools, where he was Director of Facilities. He was a past member of the Clyde Fire Department and a Trustee of the Clyde Village Board. For many years he coached youth sports. He loved routing on his children and grandchildren’s sports teams. When he was wasn’t at youth sporting events he loved to be camping with his wife and family.

Mike is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Brenda; two sons Bret (Amy) Steve and Brad Steve; four grandsons Brayden, Blake, Carter and Preston Steve; two sisters Beverly (James) Verbridge, Joanne (Barry) Glena; brothers-in-law Frank (Betty Jo) Molisani and David (Julie) Molisani.
