Miguel A. “Mike” Camacho
Newark—Miguel A. Camacho, 82, died Wednesday (October 28, 2015 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Friday (October 30th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A funeral service at the funeral home will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday (October 31st) with Rev. Steven Matteson officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Phelps.
Memorials, in his name, may be made to the Finger Lakes Hematology & Oncology Center, 6 Ambulance Drive, Clifton Springs, New York 14432.
Mr. Camacho was born on February 20, 1933, in Manati, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Carmelo and Maximina Ledesma Camacho. An auto mechanic, Mike worked at George Farrell's Service Station in Newark for over 30 years and finished his career at Concord Ford. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newark, where he had served on the Board of Trustees. Mike also took care of the building and grounds at the church for several years.
Mike was a special caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine (O'Dell); children Linda (Jim) Foster, Michael (Darci), Donald all of Newark and Debra Smith of Florida; thirteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; siblings Ada and Anselmo Camacho-Padilla of Newark; Alicia, Marta, Maria, Frank, Jarge and Samuel Camacho all of Puerto Rico; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Terri in 1989 and a son Gary in 2006; siblings Antonio, Mercedes and Monserrate Camacho.
