Ray was born in Kansas, MO, on October 27, 1959, the son of the late Robert and Elaine Jones Schmidhammer.  For many years he owned and operated Sullivan Auto Service in Williamson.  He loved working on cars and motorcycles in his spare time.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years Christine; a son Jared Schmidhammer; stepchildren Joshua (Brittney Russell) Kommer and Nicole Kommer; two grandchildren Summer and Storm Kommer; a sister Linda; mother-in law Elaine Cowley; brother-in-laws Michael (Cheryl) and Robert (Sue) Cowley. He was predeceased by a son Jayme Schmidhammer and two brothers; father-in-law Al Cowley; brother-in-law Steven Cowley..
