Clifton Springs/Newark—Richard H. Allen, 94, died Saturday (December 12, 2015) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 P.M. on Tuesday (December 15th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday (December16th). Burial will be in Fairville Cemetery.
Memorials, in his name, may be made to American Cancer Society, 1120 South Goodman Street, Rochester, New York 14620.
Mr. Allen was born on July 14, 1921 in Rochester, the son of the late Ernest and Bernice Stone Allen. He had been a member of the Bay Knoll Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Webster. For several years, Dick owned and operated a carrot and peach farm on Holt Road in Webster. He then owned and operated Lakeside Enterprises which was a swimming pool maintence business, servicing many of the larger pools in the area. Dick also had worked for the Webster School Districts in the bus garage as a mechanic. Dick loved to tinker and fix things. Sometime, he'd just take things apart to see how they worked and then put them back together.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Irene of Clifton Springs; daughter Tracy; stepchildren Donna (Robert) DiNiere of Newark, David (Debbie) Rutan of Walworth, Ronald Rutan of Seminole, FL. several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother Robert (Doris) Allen of Ontario; nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by brother John Sumner and sister Betty Sumner .
