Robert E. Wirth Newark—Robert E. Wirth, 91, died on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Newark Wayne Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held at the Sampson Veterans Cemetery, 6632 NY 96-A, Romulus, NY 14541 for family.

Mr. Wirth was born on September 14, 1933, in Newark, NY, the son of the late Gilbert Lewis Wirth and Bessie Lapp. He was a high school graduate and enlisted in the US Navy on October 2, 1952. He served until September 21, 1956. He later worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Newark Developmental Center.

Robert was a loving grandfather and a wonderful storyteller, always ready with quick wit or memory to share. He cared for his mother, who lived to be 100, and his family finds comfort knowing he now shares a special bond with his first grandchild, as he passed on her birthday. He also had a big heart for animals, welcoming and fostering many that found their way onto his land and treating them like part of the family.

Mr. Wirth is survived by a son Matthew Wirth; a daughter Vicky (Gregg Sloane) Wirth; Grandchildren – Kelly, Caitlin, Jason, Amanda and Mason; Great grandchildren – Declan, Alina, Silas, Rowan, Arden and a stepbrother, Albert Hite (Patty). He is predeceased by his wife, Mildred Hatter Wirth; a son, Mark Wirth, a brother - Donald Wirth; sister, Betty Wirth and a stepbrother, Arnold Hite.
