Newark ---Sherman Dixon Bloomer, 74, of Wilmington NC, formerly of Newark, died Monday (November 8, 2004) at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

There will be no prior calling hours. Father Peter Clifford will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Friday (Nov. 12th) at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street, Newark, New York. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery

Mr. Bloomer was born on July 8, 1930, in Newark, the son of Harrison and Margery Dixon Bloomer. He had attended the Quarter Circle V Bar Ranch in Mayer, Az., graduated from Newark High School and Cornell University. He had worked for the National Security Agency in Washington, DC, Bloomer Brothers in Newark and for thirty- five years was a Financial Analyst for Mobil Chemical in Macedon. After his retirement, Sherm was active with the Newark-Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance where he was an Emergency Medical Technician. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Newark. For the past couple of years, he had lived in Wilmington.

He is survived by his wife Violet, a son Sherman H. (Kate Lajtha) of Corvalli, Or., five daughters Betsy (Duane) Oudenhoven of Chicago, Il, Ellen (Bruce) Mitchell of San Antonio, Tx., Margaret Bloomer of Wilkes Boro, NC., Nancy Bloomer of Greenville, SC., and Jennifer Bloomer of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren James and Molly Oudenhoven, Brian and Erin Mitchell, Adrian and Lucy Bloomer; a sister Joan (Jeremiah) Collins of Bethesda, Md.

The family is being served by the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home.
