Newark ---Shirley Ann Smith, 79, died Friday (March 22, 2013) at the DeMay Living Center.

            Funeral service for Shirley will be at 2 P.M. on Monday (March 25^th ) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.  Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

            Memorials, in her name, may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, New York 14489.

            Mrs. Smith was born on December 2, 1933 in Newark, the daughter of the late Lee and Emma Bankert Gary.  She had worked in the office of Fold-Pac for more than 33 years.

            Shirley is survived by a daughter Kathryn (John) Ryckbost of Newark and son Steven of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren Chris Smith, Jason Smith, Lisa Smith, Julie Clas and Jeffrey Ryckbost; two great grandsons, several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Herbert in 2008, son Joseph, brother Donald Gary and sister Dorothy Hatfield.
