Newark –Steven J. Van De Walle, 38, died Saturday (July 17, 2010) at the Geneva General Hospital.

            Friends may call on Tuesday (July 20th) from 2- 4 and 7-9 PM at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller St. in Newark. There will be a fireman’s visitation on Tuesday at 6:45 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday (July 21^th) at the funeral home.  Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

          Mr. Van De Walle was born January 19, 1972, in Clifton Springs the son of Gerald and Judy Grant Van De Walle.  He was a life-long resident of Newark and a 1991 graduate of Newark High School.  For many years, Steve drove truck for Jim Rubenstein Trucking and for the last seven months for K&D Disposal.   He joined the Arcadia Hose Company of the Newark Fire Department when he was 18 and has been a very active fireman ever since.  He currently has been serving as a First Lieutenant in the Newark Fire Department.

          Steve is survived by his wife Randi of Marion, two children Erica and Darryl of Newark, his father Jerry (Diane Schetrompf) of Newark, a brother Brain (Tricia) of Farmington and a special friend Penny Mayo of Newark.  He was predeceased by his mother Judy on August 8, 2004.
