Newark---Susan Louise Farabell passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on August 25th, 2026.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 4-7 PM at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home,127 E. Miller St. in Newark. Burial will be in South Lyons Cemetery.

Susan was born on September 11, 1951, in Newark, New York, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Alice Smith Craver. Her childhood was spent in East Palmyra, growing up alongside her siblings and family among open fields and farmland. She graduated from Newark High School with the Class of 1969.Susan began a 34-year career with Parker Hannifin, where she formed lasting friendships and created countless memories. It was shortly after beginning her career that she met her life partner of 35 years, Richard “Dick” P. Sapp. Susan's life became busy early on with the birth of three sons, Jon, Jeremy, and Jason. Filled with football practices, carpools and all the everyday moments that come with raising a family and stepchildren. She never stopped being a mother, as it remained who she was until her very last day. Upon retirement, her days were spent with countless birthday parties, dinner with friends, holidays with family, and simple enjoyments of life. Her life was fueled with activities with her sons, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, seeing her family and spending time with her partner, Dick.

Susan is survived by her life partner of 35 years, Richard P. Sapp; her three sons, Jason Coons (Marie), Jon Balch (Cindy), Jeremy Balch (Kelly), and step-children Heath, Ron (Marissa), and Serena Farabell; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her beloved four-legged children, Sammy, Simon, Sophie, and Spooky; her sisters Joyce Downey of Clifton Springs and Cheryl (John) Robson of Newark; sister-in-law June Craver of Sodus; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Jacqueline VanGorder and her brother Kenneth Craver. Above all, Sue was gentle.

She carried herself with grace and humility and had a rare ability to make people feel comfortable wherever they were. Whether through a phone call, sitting in her home, or simply crossing paths on the street, Sue had a way of making you feel welcomed and cared for. Her kindness was never reserved for those she knew; she offered that same warmth freely to others.
