Newark---Theresa M. Lagana, 87, died Tuesday (May 15, 2012) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends may call from 4 – 8 PM on Thursday (May 17th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday (May 18th) at St. Michael’s Church. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

Mrs. Lagana was born on January 1, 1925 in Lyons, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Filippello Marrocco. She graduated from Newark High School Class of 1942. Theresa worked several years for her father at Marrocco Bakery in Newark. She joined her late husband Bruno in 1948, running the Lagana Plumbing and Heating business until his death in 1970. She continued on in the business as vice president and secretary with her son David until her retirement in 2000. A communicant of St. Michael’s Church, she was a member of its Rosary and Altar Society. Theresa enjoyed the Red Hat Society’s outings, playing golf and cards. She also traveled extensively.. She had been a member of the Newark Country Club. A kind and thoughtful person, she was loved by many.
She is survived by her son David (Terri) of Sodus Point, her daughter Mary Ellen (Dennis Brown) Lagana of North Pharsalia, NY; two grandchildren Daniel Birch and David Lukas Brown; two sisters Dorothy LaConti of Sparta, NJ and Helen (Mack) Campbell of Black River, NY; a brother Nicholas (Joanne) Marrocco of Natural Bridge, NY.; several nieces and nephews. Theresa was predeceased by her husband Bruno in 1970 and a sister Pauline Sarosky.
