Wallace D. Avery

Newark—Wallace Avery, 78, died Tuesday (February 1, 2011) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

          Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Friday (February 4^th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark.  Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday (February 5^th) at the funeral home with Rev. Carlos Smith, officiating.

          Memorials in his name may be made to the Phelps Fire Department, PO Box 81. Phelps, New York 14532.

          Mr. Avery was born January 13, 1933, in Waterloo the son of the late Delbert and Bertha Wooley Avery.  He worked in the shipping department of Garlock, Inc. in Palmyra for 39 years, retiring in 1995.  Wally served in the US Army and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

          He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean De Cann Avery, a daughter Susan (her partner Eric McMaster) Avery of Webster and a son Steven (Katie) of Chicago, several nieces and nephews.  Wally was predeceased by two brothers Alford and Gerald Avery
